Photography has been a gateway for me. It has opened doors to new places and new people I would otherwise never know. This is one of the reasons I am so passionate about it! I love to share this passion with other photographers, be they a pro or hobbyist.

It is this desire to share my love of photography with all of you fine folks out there that led to the idea of a ‘Photo Hike’. I held a couple last year, and the response had been positive. This year, I expanded things and co-hosted with Erin Perrotta of Perrotta Creative to offer an even better experience. I have used Canon gear all my life, and Erin is a Nikon fan, so it seemed to make sense to team up.

The idea of the photo hike is to bring together like minded people in a setting where they can practice new techniques and get questions answered about their cameras and images. There is no pressure to produce anything, just to have a good time and hopefully learn something new.

For this photo hike, we chose the centrally located Corbett’s Glen as our meeting point. This park offered a mix of water and forest scenes, which provided a nice variety of images. The 12 participants practiced photographing people, plants, animals, waterfalls, and more! We also had a nice mix of professionals and hobbyists which I thoroughly enjoyed.

After the hike on an 80+ degree day, we decided to hit up Abbott’s for a little after party. Yum! Everyone graciously shared their images so we could pool them together to create this little recap of the event.

Thank you Brad, Lori, Rowan, Bob, Sue, Kayla, Dana, Velynda, Terri, and Hong for making this event so much fun! Also, I want to specially thank Erin for her assistance in planning this event. We are already in discussion about where and when the next one will be! We’re thinking this may become a seasonal adventure, so possibly a late summer or early fall date will be emerging soon.
