Today I came across an initiative called Giving Is Awesome. It is a group of photographers giving back, grassroots style. I loved the concept the moment that I saw it, and have decided to join in on the joy of giving!

What’s the deal?

There are lots of great people out there, doing awesome things in their community, who deserve the gift of happy memories for Christmas. Using my photography, I would like to give that person or family a christmas present from Light+Ink. The gift? A custom portrait package worth $500!

You know someone. You know someone who has experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it. Tell me about them, and they could receive this great gift!

How does it work?

Using the form below, nominate a person or family you feel is deserving of this gift. Tell me why they deserve it. On Christmas Eve, I will call the winner and let them know about the present. I’ll call you, the nominator, as well, so you can have the peace of mind of helping someone out this Christmas.

The rules

• You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services.
• The nominee must reside within 75 miles of Rochester, NY. (Hey, if they are outside the area, check out this map of other participating photographers across the country!)
• You must fill out the form below (all fields are required) and submit it by December 21 23, 2009.
